Healthy, suitable for your skin jelly that is perfect for adding to iced teas or lattes! It is chewy, not too syrupy, and will definitely make your favorite drinks more appealing! INGREDIENTS 1-2 Large Aloe Vera Leaves A Knife Or Vegetable Peeler 2 Cups (500ml) Water 2 Tbsp Sugar (Or Maple Syrup) instructions Tip: It’s best to only use one or two leaves at a time, as it’s gel only lasts about 3-4 days without additional preservatives. Let’s begin! Firstly, cut the leaf into segments about 7″ long, as it will be easier to manage then. Snip off the serrated edge. Try to get just the side because it is challenging to get the gel out of those pieces. Strike the 7″ segments into 2 or 3 long strips. Slide the blade just under the skin on the end of one of the strips. Delicately slide the knife along the bottom end of the skin down the entire length of the leaf. Try to stay close to the surface so you get as much gel as you can. Once you get the complete piece of skin off, flip the section over, and replicate with the other side, cut the aloe vera gel into half-inch cubes. Transfer all the cubes to a large bowl and cover it over with cold water. Let it settle for about 15 minutes. Drain the aloe vera cubes and transfer to a medium saucepan. Add the 2 cups of water and sugar. Bring to a boil and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Drain and transfer to a bowl to cool. You can wait, or you can just go ahead and pour the gel into the distinct storage container and chill. You can store it in the refrigerator for about three days. Use as a topping for iced teas, lattes, fruit juices, or even smoothies! Aloe vera jelly will keep for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
